Set up our subject, lightning and backdrop.
8. Inspired by the master.
Explore from other sources to get an idea and inspiration.
9. Now, it's your turn.
try your skill by combining all the basic skill and
10. Sharing session.
Whenever we take a picture, share with other and discuss about the picture.

POTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY

"Potrait is the window of the soul"

1)Photograph that use their face as a main focus in the photo.
2)Setting tell us information about the photo.
3)Props in potrait photography.
4) Lighting can make a success and a failure of a photograph. SHOOT FROM THE SOURCES OF LIGHT. tHERE WILL BE DIFFERENT PRODUCT FROM DIFFERNT SETTING AND LIGHTING.

5)Candidates: let the candidate feel free to pose.
6)Angle in potraits.
choose the right angle. each angle will tell us different story of the picture.

TYPE OF POTRAIT
(i) CANDID : UN-POSES
(ii) Posed:
(iii) formal

Reflection week 6

Hi everyone!
Today we had a very great presentation that attracted my attention which is all about image composition.
There are three parts which are:
(i) Introduction of image composition
(ii) Pattern, line and cut off
(iii) Shooting technique.

So, to make it simple let us go roughly on all of these three parts.

Some of the element in image composition are:
-Simplicity / center of interest
-Balancing image
-Depth
-Rule of Third
this technique are to make the picture even lively. So it doesn't look too static...hee

-Breaking the rule
hmm..breaking the rule, to make the picture even better...

Other than that, pattern, line and cut off are very important in developing a good picture composition. If we know how to manipulate the surrounding and make use of the line, pattern or any other elements of photography, the picture will look more awesome than professional photographer. Amazing right?! Here are some pictures that show the use of these techniques:

                                                                           Line

                                                                          Pattern

SHOOTING TECHNIQUE
1. high angle : The angle come from subject, not from photographer. The face will look big while the body will look small..

2.low angle : low angle from subject. In this technique, the bottom will look big while the top will look small.

3. Eye level / normal angle
Just like the normal position of taking picture. For this picture, you will look the object just like it is in front of you.. Look at the cat below, cute right?

4. Panning
This technique are suitable if you want to take a moving object but you want to make it static. The picture will look like if the object are static while the background are moving. You can see the image look like it is moving . Just like the picture below.

5. Silhoute
Have you seen any picture where the background look brighter than its object? This kind of images were shot using this technique. You can see the object will look like shadow.

6.Zoom in and zoom out.
For this effect we have to use bulb setting.

7. Creative lighting system.
We will need to use flash as a slave. It is either flash and flash or flash with natural light such as sun (IF THE BACHGROUND IS LIGHT WITH SUN, WE HAVE TO PUT THE FLASH INFRONT OF THE MODEL SO THAT WE CAN STILL SEE THE MODEL ).

8. Reflection
I guess you know how this technique are used right? Yeah! it is use if there is a reflection medium such as water. Your image will look like there are two dimention of space. Look at the picture below:

9. Panorama.
It's such a waste if we have a very beautiful panorama but we can only take just apart of it, right? This technique enable us to take a wide angle view of the panorama. That's why we call it panorama. Haha. Here is a sample of panorama:

To make it even creative and more attractive, we can also combine two techniques such as panorama and reflection. It is depend on how your surrounding is. Look at the picture below.
I bet all of you already know how to use the techniques and skills to take a picture. Remember, the only thing that limit a photograph is yourself, the photographer. So, lets try to be more creative and use anything around us to make our photographs more lively! ( I'm still trying, actually..haha)

Until next time!
Good luck for Photography competition....
Have a nice mid-term holiday ;)

Reflection week 5

This week, we have 2 group presentation.

Our main topic for this week are studio photography. The meeting was first held on the photography studio. En.Fuad has teach us how to do studio photography using Hasselblad and monitor the process using a software on the computer. Hasselblad is a professional camera that was usually use in the studio but still it can be use outside of the studio..;)

We need a tripod to hold this camera since it is quiet heavy while holding this camera will affect the quality of the picture.
Okey, for your infomation, this camera are very expensive. hehe this is the camera:

first of all, we need to find the range of the lense to the image and then adjust on the hasselblad. After that, we can either take the picture by pressing the button on the camera or on the monitor.

reflection for week 4

Hi everyone! (^_^)
i'm really excited because the meeting was conducted at photography studios. Lighting studio are the major discussion on this meeting. Can you imagine how lighting studio look like? yeah! its like a modelling photography studio. Here are some picture of lighting studio. ;)

Usually in lightning studios, the most important thing that must have was soft box, flash and back drop. Interestingly, we can have a close look of lightning studio in this photography studio. Awesome right? (^_^)

We’re first introduced with the function of flash, and some of the technique that can be used by flash. Generally speaking, expensive flash is better than the cheaper one. Higher- end product usually comprises wide range of functions which help photographer to compose their picture better as compared to lower-end product which only serve basic functions. For examples, the expensive flash can rotate 360 degree rotation while the rotation of cheapest flash are limited. This will make the photographer possible to do bound technique that can prevent the shadow from appear on the picture. The figure of bound technique are as below:

From the figure above, we can see that different technique of bounce flash give different view of shadow. According to Mr. Fuad, the professional photographer of UTM, the lesser the shadow, the better the quality of the picture.

We can either put the flash on the camera or off the flash from the camera. Interestingly, multiple number of flash can operate at the same time by controlling the master flash. But, this can be applied only to the creative lightning system.

Creative lightning system can only be applied on the camera and flash in the red circle but not for D-TTL.

reflection for week 3

Hi everyone! (^_^)
how are you doing today,
So, this week we are having the first presentation from one group.
Today’s preseantations are all about the DSLR, Visual modification and DC Advantages. I’ll reflect all of these three topic but first, let’s talking about DSLR. DSLR also known as digital single lens reflecx and can be categorize as digital camera. From the presentation, it is know that, the digital camera has about 8 advantages and 4 disadvantages.

The advantages are ;
-eliminates film processing
-massive photo storage
-operating speed
-user-friendly
-editing and sharing option
-preview of image
-video recording and,
-environment friendly

While the disadvantages are:
-storage capacity
-complexity
-battery consumption
-durability.

What make digital camera different from the normal camera are it has a storage device. However, the storage for the storage device are depent on it’s type. There are two type of storage devise which is:

-traditional :film both record and storage image
-digital : separate device perform to 2 function, first image capture by the image sensor and then transfer to in-camera storage devices.

Usually, storage device are used depends on the camera compatibility and function. There are lot of storage device such as:

-compact flash
-secure digital( SD Card, over half of camera model use this card)
-multi media(MMC, usually for pocket camera)
-memory stick (for sony product only)
-Hard drives
-1time used flash

Orait now, lets proceed to the visual modification. Usually, people tend to think that we only can make an editing only by using certain software such as photoshop. But, hey….we’re wrong babe…! Haha we also can edit by using a camera….but certain type of camera, of course..!  ;)

How is it possible?
Okay…there are three thing that we can do, which is
-adjusting the brightness
-trimming
-correcting an image

1) ADJUSTING BRIGHTNESS

2)TRIMMING:some camera are not suitable for long range capture. Hence. Tripping is the best way to get the picture that we desire.

here are the step.

3)CORRECTING IMAGE: teo way which is repairing and copy stamp.
(i) repairing: remove unwanted spot.

(ii) copy Stamp

reflection for week 2

This week, the class was held at the Photography Studio. We are introduced to Mr. Fuad, the professional photographer for UTM. Mr. Fuad will assist and monitor our learning in photography. He has a lots of experiences in photography in more than a decade.

We are first introduced with the type of camera that presented from analog to the present one.To make it simple, camera has been upgraded from time to time from kodak cameras, SLR cameras, instant cameras, disposal camera and now, DSLR camera.

All right, in photography, not only the skill are important but how we handle the camera will make a significant effect on the picture that we take. Sound like a bit silly right? but it is true. (^_^) According to Mr. Fuad, the skill of handling the camera correctly is very important to get a good picture. Here are some guidance on how we should handling the camera correctly.

Other than the posture of handling the camera, We are also learn about the use of ISO, Shutter speed and Aperture.  These three item are the most important element in the photography. Before we proceed further, lets take a look on the definition of these three things.

ISO: Indication of how sensitive a film was to light.

Shutter speed: Indicate the aperture diaphragm of a lens (bigger or smallervalues) and the timing for it to open and close during exposure process.

Aperture: the opening in the lens.

As state earlier, these three element( ISO, Aperture and Shutter speed) are related to each other. Refer to the exposure triangle below.

Hence. the use and selection of these three thing should actually depends on our surrounding and type of picture that we want to take.

The most important aspect in photography was ISO, Shutter speed and Aperture. These three aspect are related each other and give effect on the quality of the picture. To make thing's easier, let us see their relationship by the picture below.

really hope this picture can help you choose the value of ISO, Shutter speed and Aperture. ;)
