Since examis just around a corner....so, Dr Jamaluddin has prepared for us some examination tips..some of them are scenario problem involving the printing size. So, lets review the question and discuss here.

QUESTIONS

A print shop/graphics designer/magazine asks a client for a photo at 300 dpi. They wish to print it out at 5" x 7".The client already has a beautiful digital photo with pixel dimensions of 2048 x 1536.The client notices that the photo editing software is showing that the photo is set to 72 dpi. In your opinion, what should the client do…?

ANSWER

its quit difficult to understand this question rite? so,lets draw some diagram to make our work even easier..

 Orait, now, we know the formula to change from picxel to inch rite? so, use it. Focus on the original size first.

orait...now, lets refresh..we know the formula to change from pixel to inch rite?
 it is (pixel)/(dpi)=(inch) now.lets focus on the screen image first.

(2048)/(300)= 6.82inch

(1536)/(300)=5.129inch


okay..if we look at the calculation, (6.82x5.129)inch is the best print size for image (2048x1536)pixel where the quality for the picture will not downgraded.
But, the problem is, the customer want to have printed image for 5''x7'' which is will make the quality downgraded. The resolution for the image will be not as good as if it is printed with the calculated size.


so....what we can do is, we have to change the suitable pixel size so that we can get 5''x7''.
how??

okay..lets the pixel be x.

(x)/(300)=(5'')
            x=5'' x 300
            x= 1500px

(x)/(300)=(7'')
           x = 7''x300
           x = 2100px

hence, the ideal screen size to print 5''x7'' is (1500x2100) pixel.
the image size can be change by click on the :

 image> image size> change the size.

other than the calculation, we can solve this problem by interpolation and resample.

Just to share with you guys what dr J has inform us about the examination paper. There will be 2 section which is section A and section B. We have to answer all question on section A while in section B we have to answer 2 question. Look at the marks. if the marks are higher. we have to answer the question together with the explaination and example.

everyone knows how to printing and we all know this gadget has make our work even faster and efficient. But how many knows on its development and since when it was born..
Here we are...lets view some of this gadget's detail...

HISTORY OF PRINTER....

Okay, Printing press begin  in 1439 to print book -> the movable type press> steam press machines in1814 to print book and newspaper> rotary printing press> Xerox 1938> first high speed printer > Evolving >Jet printer by laser> Laser printers that use toner and heat to press toner on the paper > HD Deskjet in 1988> printer color> solid ink tecknology.

Technique and process of printing.

Technique:

1. Embossing/ Debossing
similar process that create diferent result. Look at the picture below.

2. Silk and lamination
provide a soft, silk like finish, is water resistance and long lasting

3. Thermography
special powder was added to the ink to be printed on the paper.

4. Die card
involve cutting irregular shape in paper or paperboard using a die.

5.Letterpress.
old technology. surface with raised letter is ink and press.

6.Silk screening
use a woven mesh to support an ink-blicking stencil.attach stensil form open areas of mesh.

Process:

1.Scaling
WORD THAT MEANS STRETCHING OR SHRINGKING TO FIT A SPECIFIC AREA.

2.Prepress operations: include composition and typeseting,graphic

3. Foil printing :also called foil stamping. use silver and gold pigment foil.

4. Lamination

dpi is a short form for dot per inch. we can use dpi to change unit pixel to inch.
use this formula :
(pixel)/(dpi)= (inch)

this week one of my team member was presenting about one of tools that very useful for editing process. there are altogether 3 tols which is healing brush tools, patch tools and red eye tools.

each of these item contain its own benefit.

1) healing brush tools:
you can remove unwanted buzz on your face or picture by using a healing brush. First of all, click on the healing brush tool> alt, picture desire area> color unwanted area.
For this, you have to use a brush to color. the selection of your brush size was determined by your manipulated area.

2)Patch tool
The function of patch tools are the same as the healing brush tool but you don't have to color using a brush. You just have to follow the shape that you want to change and then drag into the area that you want.

3) red eye tool
obviously from its name. it is applicable for the red eye. Sometime when taking a picture at night, the eye look red. scary right?! and plus, its such a waste and frustrated. but. don't worry. we have this tool. just select red eye tool> clock on the red eye.

we also learn bout the clone stamp. healing spot brush make your selective picture blended with the surrounding color so, the image will become less attractive .but, clone can be the alternative where you can get the copy exactly like what you desire but still, you have to put the selective image on the right place.

today, we're learnt about basic photo,image selecting and editing, and introduction of Adobe Photoshop.At first, we were introduced with the some editing software. there are a lot such as:

-Photoscape. not recommended for professional editing  but best for fun editing

-GIMP for Window(contain lot of manipulated image editing such as correcting color, brightness-contrast, sharpen/blur,remote red-eye,ect)

-Paint.NET (strong with image editing basic such as resize, good range on selection and paint tool and some amaze effect too!)

-LazPaint for Window &LINUX

-Serif PhotoPlus( remove imperfectyions in a flash, add stunning artistics effects, amazing color control, restore classic photo and many more)

-VCW Vicman's Photo Editor

IMAGE SELECTION AND EDITING
image can be 2dimension or 3 dimensions.usually, it was taken by using optical devices such as camera, lenses, telescope,microscope and many more.

RESOLUTION AND PIXEL
the quality of a picture are depends on its resolution and pixel. the higher the pixel on the picture, the better the picture is.

Hi everyone…! How was your day? ;) Hmm no matter how challenging your day, face it with love orait.

Have you practiced the Photoshop skill that we have learnt last week…? (Actually, I’m the one who taught you last week, hope you still remember me...(^_^))

We have learnt about combining image and special effects. Let’s refresh on what we have learnt before.  

1.       COMBINING IMAGE.

-To combine images, you need to have at least, 2 pictures.  First, create a blank canvas with your preferable size (file>new).for this canvas, I’ll color it to green so that you can classify the window.

-After that, open new file and choose any picture that you was want to use. (File>open)

(Choose picture> open)

-Okay, this time, we are going to use picture that we have choose. Follow this step. (magic wand tool>Click the area that you don’t want

(Select> inverse> click ok) .after that drag the photo to the canvas that we make before and click Ctrl at the same time.

The picture will look like below.

So, now, you can start make a combination using your creativity. I make a new one. hee

SPECIAL EFFECT

Now, let’s ass up some effect on out images. But first, I’ll introduce to you, where we can have an effect.first on filter and on layer button.

Now, lets try make some effect on the canvas.

I’m going to make a text and add up some effect. First, click icon “T” and make a word. And then highlight the word. Follow this: (layer>layer style> choose any effect you prefer) I’m going to choose stroke as my effect.

You may try other effect you want. ;)

Let’s try other effect. For example blur effect.

For example, you want to make the clock look blur at it’s edge.

First, click on the clock layer. then, choose an effect.(filter>blur>radial blur>ok)

Adjust the blur width.then click ok.

This will be the product.

IMAGE TRANSFORMATION 
must be boring if we only can see an image with a static pose, right? But, Photoshop enable us to make a transformation with different position such as resize, skew and many more.

okay, first of all, lets learn how to import a picture from your folder to the photoshop.
STEP 1:drag the image to the adobe photoshop

STEP 2: tick on the upper bar

STEP 3: CLICK ON THE PICTURE LAYER AND click the rectangular marquee tool on the right tool bar. After that, put the curser on the picture.

STEP4: Right click on the picture and choose free transform.right click again.

the picture below will show how your picture will look like:

(i)resize picture

(ii)rotate angle: you have to put your curser on the edge of the box. After an arrow like below appear rotate the box at any degree you wish.

(iii)skew/distort/perspective: The picture can be move backward or frontward from one side.

(iv)crop: just choose picture that you want.

(v)flip horizontal or flip vertical

HUE AND SATURATION
Hue and saturation are another effect for photoshop.its help us  adjust the hue, saturation, and lightness of a specific range of colors in an image or simultaneously adjust all the colors in an image. 

STEP 1: click on the layer and the picture. make sure you are using the rectangular marquee tool.
STEP2: Layer>new adjustment layer>hue and saturation.

STEP3: there will be a pop up window as below.just click ok.

STEP 4:

if you look at the right side of the adobe photoshope, there are colour scale. just adjust you preference colour scale and it will automatically adjust your picture with the selected colour.
